and all the roads we have to walk are winding

waking up is the hardest part

my breath fogged up the glass, so i drew a new face and laughed

those three songs we're just played in a row on the radio. can anybody name them? i think probably everyone knows the one in the title, and my sisters should know the other two... nobody's playing my "name-the-tune-in-the-title" game :( that's cool. in case you were wondering they are: oasis, john mayer, and jason mraz. a bunch o' good songs.

so i'm stalling from finishing my lab report, can you tell? i'm also distracted from a little bit of drama. i probably shouldn't write about it on here, but neither of the people it involves actually read this, so i think it's ok. basically i'm caught in the middle and afraid of losing a great friendship i've made this year. the best part of monterey has been escaping the drama from main campus, but i'm afraid i've been living in ignorant bliss too long.

life is still great here though. this morning i went out on the aquarium's boat with chris - she works on it as a naturalist. we talked about plankton, algae, bat stars, and conservation. we also saw two moon jellies near the surface! the coolest part was the actual sailing though. i got to help hoist the sail, then i rode on the bow as the boat leapt and dipped with the waves. it was really fun! very windy and i ended up getting very splashed... but it was totally worth it.

this past week was awesome! (except for my being sick) for our lab on wednesday, we went snorkeling right off hopkins! we suited up in thick wetsuits from head to toe (see pics on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2126144&l=924d0&id=220245). we swam/floated for almost two hours and i managed not to get cold! we saw moon jellies - my favorite - they're so elegant and graceful! mom says they look like lampshades, which they do. i believe they're her favorites too :) we also saw lots of snails - crawling all over the rocks and the kelp - very cool. yes, i'm actually growing kind of fond of snails... who would have thought? there were tons of sea stars - we even saw quite a few sunflower stars (the ones that can have up to 22 arms!) finally, we were surround by seals swimming beneath us and lying on the rocks. they especially liked playing with our flippers - so cool!

last weekend was wonderful for me too. first kylee, beckii, sharon, and thom came to visit! we went the aquarium, hopkins, and a delicious lunch on the pier. it was really fun to see them and show them a piece of my world down here! then mom and emily came. we went to the chart house to celebrate em's 16th birthday... 7 months late. it was neat though - they personalized our menus and gave her a free slice of chocolate mud pie! the food was delicious. then we had fun hanging out in the hotel room just the three of us. the next day, dad, jen, and kat got here! all six of us piled onto one of those family bikes - it was a bit of a disaster (especially while emily was driving!) but it was also quite fun. after a delicious sushi dinner we all went to ghirardelli where they make emily's peanut-free special in the back! that was great. and it was delicious! dad and i split a hot fudge sunday with bananas. the food was so good that weekend. we ended up eating ghirardelli twice and first awakenings - the scrumptious brunch restaurant - three times! in three days! it was a bit ridiculous, but fun. the waitress had dad's order memorized by the end of the weekend :P

so my life continues to be awesome! i can't believe it's already june and i am going home in less than a week! i can't wait to see all my friends before they (and i) leave for the summer. i'm afraid it's going to be lonely in colorado for 10 weeks by myself, but then we'll all be together again in the fall. and i have a single so i get a nice big room all to myself! i'm living in serra, which is extra cool because my name is sarah :)

the "new" maroon 5 song is on the radio and it confuses me. it's the first one from their cd that came out last summer, but they do it with rhianna, and she sings like half of the song, but in perfect tone (or pitch or something, i really should brush up on my musical terms) with them. she even wavers her voice like they do - it sounds so similar, except she's a girl. hence it's confusing. but i really like the song, just like i did a year ago... it was one of the theme songs of my summer, and perhaps it will be again this year. although i think this year it may be more david bisbal - psyching me up for spain!

now they're playing def leppard - pour some sugar on me. that would be the theme song from rome, aka summer 2003. they must know it's summertime. i do like this radio station though. sorry for the long music rant, but you know me :)
